SPADE: The Podcast

My name is Paul Anthony Henderson Jr.  I was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, but I grew up in Spartanburg, South Carolina.  During my ninth grade year in 2004, I was diagnosed with epilepsy. I have short-term memory loss as a result of the medication I'm taking and the seizures itself, so recalling events can be difficult. I can recall  one day at band class, I got terribly unwell and had to leave to go home. I remember lying in bed after I went home and having 5 seizures in a row. I blacked out during my sixth episode, which was a grand mal seizure. My mother was in my room with me when she called the ambulance, stating that it took a while for them to arrive. Eventually I was diagnosed with epilepsy. I used to be ashamed of my epilepsy.  But now I'm embracing it and wearing outfits that proclaim my status as an epileptic warrior.
